Grape seed oil is a byproduct of wine
production and is a naturally enriched source of
vitamin E. There is growing evidence that vitamin E
helps promote healing, healthy skin and muscles.
Grape seed oil is also rich in
essential fatty acids, minerals, and linoleic acid,
also known as omega-6 acid, which is necessary for
normal cell metabolism. It also helps strengthen
tissue cells and works to help preserve the natural
moisture of the skin.
This oil is excellent for all skin
types and is easily absorbed. It will tighten and
tone yet not aggravate acne because of its mild
astringent properties. It is light in texture and
has great emollient properties that impart a rich,
silky luster while soothing skin.
Grape seed oil is purported to have
regenerative and restructuring virtues and is well
known for its potent anti-oxidant effects that
protect tissues from a range of oxidative injuries.
The proanthocyanidins, (PCO’s) which
are the very potent antioxidants, are helpful for
diminishing the sun’s damaging effects and lessening
free radical damage and also helpful in healing of
the skin. They also inhibit a number of enzymes
that degrade connective tissue, such as elastase,
collagenase, and hyaluronidase.
Grape seeds and grape seed extract
are a major source of these PCO’s, the potent
protective nutriceuticals which make it a natural
skin protector and moisturizer.
